Native from Middle-Egypt, Al Tuni is a “munshid” -poet-singer in the Sufi tradition- whose captivating “inshad” -chants- haunt the “dhikr” nights and lead to trance.
In this documentary film, punctuated by excerpts from his concert at the Théâtre de la Ville, Al Tuni invites us to Hawatka, his village, to share a slice of life... and some great music.
It is also a tentative introduction to Egyptian sufism whose musical expression is quite impressive.
